Join IMBA at the National Bike Summit March 10-12, 2009
IMBA is proud to be a leading sponsor of the 2009 League of American Bicyclists' National Bike Summit in Washington, D.C. The Summit, held annually, is the premier bicycle advocacy event in our nation's capital and truly a highlight for advocates. You'll meet hundreds of passionate cyclists and walk the halls of Congress, a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many.
IMBA's increased involvement unites mountain and road cyclists to lobby as a unified front to preserve trails, trail funding and more. IMBA Summit participants will travel with the rest of their state delegations to congressional meetings and represent mountain bike issues.
Register with IMBA
To help you attend this very important event, the League has extended a generous offer to IMBA supporters for a discounted rate over their standard conference fee. We ask that only IMBA members and advocates register through this special rate.
Special IMBA Registration: $375 (that's a $100 savings if you register with us!)
You'll attend the entire National Bike Summit, including a new attendee session on Tuesday evening, concurrent sessions and lobbying training on Wednesday, a full day on Capitol Hill Thursday, and other sessions and gatherings. The Summit ends with the optional group ride Friday morning. Click here for the full Summit agenda.
You'll receive professional lobbying training on Wednesday afternoon and head to Capitol Hill on Thursday with 600 other cyclists to spread the word about trail access.
Raising the Money to Attend
Finding money to fund your trip to the National Bike Summit might be easier than you think. Ask local bike shops, mountain bike clubs and your state's cycling association. While in D.C., you'll be spreading a message that benefits all cyclists, so make sure to go beyond mountain biking-only organizations and think all bike-related groups for support. Scholarships are available through IMBA -- contact patti@imba.com for more information.
The National Bicycle Dealers Association is also offering 25 scholarships worth up to $1,000 each to NBDA dealer members who have not attended past National Bike Summits. Visit the NBDA website for more information and apply by January 16, 2009.
IMBA's participation in the National Bike Summit is made possible in part by a generous grant from Bikes Belong. |
