Let's not find out. Join IMBA Canada Today!

Part of the adventure of mountain biking is finding great trails to ride. Without trails, we would have nowhere to pursue our passion. That’s why the International Mountain Bicycling Association works to keep trails open to cyclists in Canada. We’re asking you to join us today.

What would we do without trails?

In many places, mountain bikers are finding it increasingly difficult to access trails. “NO BIKES” signs are far too common. Mountain bikers get a bad rap as being dangerous or destructive. The fact is, most of us ride responsibly and we lead the volunteer effort to repair and build trails.

If the trails thrive, our passion will thrive.

Over the past 18 years, thousands of kilometres of trails worldwide have been opened to bikes thanks to the efforts of cyclists just like you. We’ve supported the construction of new trails and maintenance of existing trails that are used by cyclists all across Canada. We’ve encouraged safe riding and volunteer trailwork.

IMBA programs work to protect the future of our trails.

IMBA Canada - IMBA opened its first Canadian office in 2004 to help riders develop four crucial things: convenient access to appealing trails, trailbuilding expertise, a positive image and political influence. Leading the charge are Ontario natives Mark Schmidt and Lora Woolner - both veteran IMBA professionals.

The Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crews - These teams of trail experts travel North America, leading and inspiring local volunteers in trail-improvement projects. Crews have led trailwork sessions in more than 1,000 parks and forests in Canada and the U.S.

Mountain Bike Patrol - This IMBA program has grown to more than 600 trained patrollers in North America. These volunteers assist, educate and inform mountain bikers everywhere and play an important role in keeping trails open.

IMBA Epic Rides - IMBA celebrates the spirit of mountain biking with programs like IMBA Epics that promote great, adventuresome mountain bike rides.

IMBA Trail Solutions Program - This professional trail consulting program offers flexible, fee-based trail services that range from trail planning, design, and construction, to education and problem solving - all funded by paying clients like the City of Toronto, Parks Canada, and the District of Squamish.

National Leadership and Grassroots Support - We support and assist more than 80 affiliated clubs in Canada and 100 affiliated retailers. We’re building a nationwide leadership network of field reps. We’re gaining influence in Ottawa and spearheading dynamic partnerships with Parks Canada, the National Capital Commission and other federal agencies that regulate public land.

Recent Successes.

  • Last year, IMBA members and clubs worldwide opened nearly 1,000km of new trails to cycling while contributing nearly 500,000 hours of volunteer work.
  • IMBA cyclists in Canada opened new trails to riders in Ontario, British Columbia, Manitoba and Alberta
  •  IMBA’s numbers are growing. We now have more than 32,000 international members giving mountain bikers a more powerful voice here in Canada and around the world.
